60's acrylic space age spherical table lamp

In 1960 Verner Panton designed the Moon lamp as an exploration of light filtered through layered geometric form, the luminous sphere broken into horizontal bands by a series of concentric rings that transformed a simple globe into a complex, shifting light composition. This table lamp honours that founding vision in a contemporary adaptation of extraordinary material warmth. A warm glowing opal glass sphere sits at the centre of a cubic cage constructed from horizontal amber acrylic slats, each square panel stacked at precise equal intervals on four slim chrome corner rods, the translucent panels filtering and colouring the sphere's glow as it passes through them, so that the lamp reads as a single unified luminosity rather than a cage containing a light.  At 15 × 14.5 cm it is perfectly scaled as a bedside lamp, a desk companion or a shelf accent that transforms its immediate surroundings with the warmth of a second sun.
