70's Italian space age ball floor lamp

In the studios of 1970s Italy, designers like Robert Sonneman and the craftsmen of Torino were reimagining the floor lamp as a vertical sculptural event, stacking chrome orbs and opal globes into totemic columns that treated light as a material to be shaped rather than merely directed. This floor lamp honours that radical luminous optimism with a composition of complete formal conviction. Seven spheres rise in a vertical column from a flat circular chrome base, four frosted white opal glass globes that emit a warm diffused glow and three mirror-polished chrome hemispheres that reflect and distort everything around them, their alternating rhythm creating a composition that is simultaneously a light source, a mirror object and a piece of kinetic sculpture. At 135 cm it commands the room with the presence of a full-height artwork, casting warm pools of opal light in multiple directions while the chrome spheres bend and multiply the room around them in a continuous shifting reflection. A lamp that makes every corner it occupies feel like the most considered corner in the house.
