Contemporary vintage organic pendant lamp

Inspired by the Wire Pendant designed by Jordi Pla and Jordi Jané for Spanish lighting brand Milan Iluminación, this pendant lamp distils the Space Age fascination with orbital and celestial forms into a domestic object of extraordinary restraint. A shallow concave disc, its silhouette somewhere between a flying saucer, a river stone and a satellite dish, hangs from a single sinuous black cable, a small exposed opal globe bulb nestled at its centre like a planet cradled in a crater, the whole composition reading as a found object from another atmosphere rather than a manufactured light fitting. The three colourways each reveal a different material character: the matte black reads as a flat dark meteorite of graphic precision; the terracotta brown exposes a richly textured granular inner surface that glows with warm amber depth when illuminated; and the smooth white carries the quiet ceramic serenity of a moon in its first quarter. Hung individually above a bedside table, a reading chair or a dining setting, or grouped at varying heights for a constellation effect, each pendant transforms the quality of light in its immediate surroundings from functional to atmospheric. A lamp that makes the ceiling feel like sky.
