Between 1926 and 1927 Josef Albers designed his nesting tables at the Dessau Bauhaus as a masterclass in the school's governing conviction: that honest materials, geometric clarity and the considered use of colour are sufficient conditions for great design, and that nothing further is required. This coffee table honours that legacy with complete material fidelity. A rectangular frame of solid natural oak, its square-section legs and clean rectilinear stretchers expressing the wood's grain and weight without apology — supports a flat inset top finished in one of five pure Bauhaus colourways: matte black, signal red, cobalt blue, warm yellow and pure white. The contrast between the warm natural oak frame and the flat painted top surface is the entire composition, and it is entirely enough. Available in two sizes for the intimate reading corner or the generous living room, each table is as resolved as a piece of wall-hung colour field painting and considerably more useful.
