Organic contemporary portable dimmable desk lamp

Francisco Gómez Paz, the award-winning Argentinian industrial designer, conceived the Africa lamp for Vibia in 2022 as a question: what would a candle look like if it were designed today? The answer is this a single tapered column of aluminium that widens at the base and curves gently at its apex into a small directional shade, the entire object cast from one continuous material without joint, seam, or interruption. The silhouette is at once ancient and entirely contemporary: it references the proportions of a figure, the posture of a leaning candle, and the formal language of the mechanical task light, collapsing all three into a form so resolved it appears inevitable. The shade tilts at the crown with the quiet authority of a head turned toward its task, directing warm LED light downward and outward in a focused pool that is intimate without being insufficient. At 1800mAh and 5W, the lamp is genuinely portable moving from desk to bedside to shelf to nursery as naturally as the candle it conceptually replaces, its dimmable output adjustable to suit reading, relaxing, or the softest possible nighttime check-in. Available in Space Grey, Metal Black, Ivory White, and Rose Red — four colourways that share the same quietly monumental form while giving it four entirely different emotional temperatures.
